Read: CUSP Install Starts At Casula!
Date: July 3, 2013

CUSP started arriving at the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre on Monday and it was very exciting to finally see the Freeman Ryan Design (FRD) designed exhibition furniture delivered into the Turbine Hall. The last two days have been full on, registering works from several of the designers such as Alison Page (centre image), Floyd Mueller, Chris Bosse as well as sorting through all the digital and tech hardware. Searching through the crates of works, learning how to thread the sculptural fabric onto Chris Bosse’s rings, small adjustments here and there, finding out what goes with that and much more.
There have been some light times, as can be seen in the quick snap of our Project Manager Cynthia Colli trying out Floyd’s installation late yesterday (bottom image).
More works will be arriving today and the furniture is really taking shape within the two gallery spaces. Today we should finally see Bosse’s structure up and Anupama Kundoo’s as well. She has organised for a team of her students to come in and put it together as well as showing us how to do it for the future installs around the country.
The experience of this project and the physical outcome in Casula Powerhouse’s space is exciting and I can’t wait to see it once it opens this Saturday (July 6)! Trying to work out how I can be part of Super Critical Mass’s performance that night as well.
Another truck has just turned up. Is it more furniture or more work? Whatever it is a buzz for us all here.
CUSP: Designing into the Next Decade is open from 6 July to 1 September, 2013, at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre.
