Design Partner: Freeman Ryan Design
The ability of spatial design to change your exhibition experience is enormous—think about the last time you got lost or confused walking through a museum or gallery. And then remember the last time you were awed by a space, not just the work it contained. Freeman Ryan Design (FRD) are experts in the design of exhibition spaces, having created memorable spaces around Australia for venues such as the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre and exhibitions such as Yiwarra Kuju: The Canning Stock Route for the National Museum of Australia in Canberra, as well as Surviving Australia at the Australian Museum in Sydney.
For CUSP, FRD had a demanding brief: twelve very different projects to exhibit, a tight budget, seven different venues with vastly different layouts and qualities, and the need to fit everything into
limited freight truck space for the tour.
Watch the video exploring their ideas and process in designing the CUSP exhibition environment.
