Last week we visited Dubbo, a city of 40,000 inhabitants in the central west of New South Wales, about a five and a half hour drive from Sydney. CUSP is currently on show at the Western Plains Cultural Centre in Dubbo, and as part of the creative program we’re heading to each venue to chat to someone local to the area about CUSP, and what it could mean for the area.
We chatted to a couple of people whilst in Dubbo, the first of whom is Mark Nugent. Mark is a coachbuilder, meaning he restores and fabricates cars. Mark’s speciality is vintage and antique cars, something for which he is sought out from across the globe. He started his career in Australia before spending time in Europe, returning to Dubbo thirteen years ago to start his own practice.
Check out the video below for Mark’s response to CUSP, and find out why Chris Bosse’s Cloud City and Leah Heiss’ Close To Me particularly resonated with him. And stay tuned to the Object website to find out more about Mark’s coachbuilding practice in coming days.
